What do you love about the city or area your home is in?  
The thing I love the most about Maple Grove is the fact that we very seldom have to leave it.  Nearly everything we want is right here. The shopping is superb; there are a ton of restaurants; we have a great hospital right in Maple Grove; there is a theatre; we have a great library, hiking trails, lakes, parks and a zillion other things. As I stated there is really no reason to leave.
 
If you are in a neighborhood or association, what great things do you do there?
Our neighborhood is great because we are small. Just 43 homes, I believe. It is easy to get to know people and we watch out for each other. The lawns are very well maintained by a professional landscaping firm that also clears the snow in the winter. NO SHOVELING!!! The outside of the homes are also well maintained. The garage doors were just painted last fall and this summer the driveways will be seal coated. If you have any problems, the Board of Directors and the management firm are very proactive and respond quickly. We have been very pleased with the professionalism of the organization while we have lived here. Also, every summer there is a neighborhood gathering. We block the street off and have a potluck dinner. It is always well attended and a lot of fun.

It is really too difficult to name just a few restaurants and shops I love but I was extremely happy when Maple Grove got their very own Home Goods. I practically live and Michaels and JoAnnes and we love going to Barnes and Nobles. With Kohl’s, JCPenney, and Bed Bath and Beyond, all the basics are covered, too.   Just a few of our favorite restaurants are El Rodeo, Famous Dave’s and Champps.  We also really enjoy going to the restaurants on main street – the Thai place, the Irish pub and Panera Bread. Everything you could want is right here in Maple Grove. 
 We usually shop for groceries at Cubs because it is so convenient but for specialty items I like to go to Byerly’s and Trader Joes. I haven’t tried the new Aldie’s yet but I understand their prices are great and so is their produce.
 
Key points about the property that we were drawn to?
When we found our townhouse nearly all the boxes were checked off our list. First of all we were looking for a townhouse so all the outside maintenance would be taken care of. No Shoveling Snow!!! And we got the best of both worlds with it being a detached townhome. There is a huge amount of living space and loads of storage space. The main living area is on one level. We have a great four season sunroom leading to an amazing deck. The basement has a walk out to the backyard where there isn’t anyone directly behind us. We have really enjoyed the lay out which has been awesome for entertaining large groups. We have had as many as 40 people and there is plenty of room to circulate. But as always most people love to gather in the kitchen/breakfast room which can accommodate quite a crowd, too. Speaking of room – the master bathroom is huge and my husband and I never interfere with each other in the mornings. 
 Any great schools or other things to mention?
We have heard that the Maple Grove school system is fantastic and Heritage Christian Academy is very close by. There are a lot of great churches close by and ours is just down Vicksburg.
 
What Updates/Improvements have you made to the home since purchase
We have made a lot of changes to the townhouse since we moved in. People who say it before say it doesn’t look like the same place. We have painted every room with some having special paint techniques. We added crown molding to all the rooms upstairs and to one of the bedrooms downstairs, the hall and the bath. I haven’t anyone not express anything except abundant compliments about the molding. We changed out the front of the kitchen cabinets to glass in the kitchen. We added custom woven blinds throughout the townhouse. Just recently we replaced all the appliances in the kitchen, refrig, stove, microwave and dishwasher.   We changed the water softener to a high quality one. We have changed faucets, mirrors, light fixtures and ceiling fans. We added shelving to the closets for more storage. We have had the back professionally landscaped and they also added many new shrubs out front.   
 
What did you do for interests and hobbies near to the property?
There are many things to do close by but because my main hobby is shopping, I have been super satisfied. My husband enjoys fishing in the nearby lakes and the walking paths are amazing. There are some awesome parks right in Maple Grove for just getting out and relaxing.
 Living in the townhouse has been very rewarding. Instead of spending all the time working in the yard or fixing up the outside, we have been able to just enjoy life.
 Average utility costs:
We have our utilities set as level pay so we pay $45.00 for gas each month to Center Point, $174.00 for electricity to Xcel and the water and sewage runs about $68 quarterly. I must admit we are not conservative at all with the use of the utilities. Perhaps if it were more costly, we would have been.
